ITEST Activities On the Web

During the past three years, ITSRG has sponsored an NSF sponsored ITEST Program called Building Information Technology Skills - bITS. This program involved high school students enrolled in the School District of Philadelphia to develop a community geographic information system through participating in after school and summer intensive experiences at Temple University. Here are some links to on-line  coverage of the program's activities.

September 24, 2008: The BITS Program is featured on an ITEST Learning Resource Center webinar event related to strategies for project outcomes dissemination. The event was hosted by Sarita Nair of the ITEST LRC. Click here for highlights.

E-Health Research Highlights

ITSRG Director Michele Masucci and Program Manager Caroline Guigar have been involved in the study of the use of an Internet Telemedicine System for managing cardiovascular risk factors. Here are some notices of the work that have appeared on the web.

May 15, 2007: Michele Masucci's presentation at the Annual Meetings of the American Telemedicine Association can be found at the ATA website. Click here to see the presentation power point. The paper is titled: Internet Telemedicine System: System Compliance among Inner City Patients with CVD Risk Factors. The co-authors are Caroline Guigar, William Santamore, Carol Homko and Alfed Bove from Temple University. Click here for the session information and abstract.

March 25, 2006: The College of Liberal Arts and Graduate School of Temple University hosted a conference called "Social Science Perspectives on Health Care: Disparities in the United States." The webcast of my presentation can be found by clicking here. The paper I presented was titled: Cardiovascular Disease Prevention for Underserved Patients Using the Internet: Bridging the Digital Divide.

January 2006: Telemedicine and E-Health published our pilot study of the digital divide implications for using an Internet Telemedicine System to manage CVD risk factors. The journal's on-line abstract and selected citations can be found by clicking here.
